The Westies

Set against the backdrop of the Javits Center construction in early 1980s Hell's Kitchen, 'The Westies' explores the violent turf wars between the Irish gang of the same name and the Mafia, all while drawing the attention of the FBI. The series excels in its characterisations, with J.K. Simmons delivering a commanding performance as Eamon Sweeney, the formidable head of the Westies. His portrayal, supported by a strong ensemble cast including Titus Welliver, grounds the series in a palpable intensity.

The production design and cinematography effectively evoke the era, creating an immersive and gritty atmosphere that complements the narrative's dark themes.
