Robert Luketic's 2005 romantic comedy, "Monster-in-Law," presents a familiar premise: a young woman, Charlotte Cantilini, finds her perfect match in Kevin Fields, only to face the formidable opposition of his overbearing mother, Viola. The film largely adheres to established genre conventions, with a storyline that critics found to be formulaic and lacking in originality.
