Internal Hemorrhoids: Getting Yourself A Proper Treatment

One of the two types of hemorrhoids is the internal hemorrhoid.  This form of hemorrhoid can occur due to the pressure applied in the internal hemorrhoidal veins and later on results to anal discomfort. 

Treating internal hemorrhoids depends on the severity of the individual’s condition.  In mild cases changes in the person’s diet may be recommended while in largely grave cases, surgery may be required.

Causes of internal hemorrhoids

The causes of internal hemorrhoids are included in the general list of the causes for hemorrhoids such as poor bowel habits, low fiber diet, chronic constipation, aging and pregnancy.  Other causes could include the following:

• Anal intercourse.  Once you and your partner practice this type of intercourse, there is a tendency that the rectum tissue would tear apart.  The pain may be minimal thus the tearing seemingly unnoticed.

• Cirrhosis.  This is a condition of the human liver that is characterized by the deterioration of the liver function and the damage to the liver cells.  This may lead to the liver’s disability to detoxify chemicals that could cause constipation.

Treating internal hemorrhoids

As mentioned earlier, treatment of hemorrhoids depend upon the severity of the case.  In cases where surgery is not necessary, the following steps may be taken:

• Avoid constipation.  Saying that you should avoid something may be too hard to imagine but not in the case of constipation.  Constipation may be avoided by not postponing the urge to defacate.  Once you feel like you want to have bowel movement, go to your toilet at once and do what you need to do.  Postponement of bowel movement may result to the fact that you may not defacate at all.

• Eat a balanced diet.  By this means that you have to regulate the meals you take and see to it that it is in accordance with the so-called food pyramid.  Have a high fiber diet and surely your hemorrhoidal condition would be history.

• Drink plenty of water and other fluids.  Fluid and water intake is necessary in daily life.  Everyday, our body loses a certain amount of fluid that essentially needs replacement.  Typically, health nutritionists suggest that we drink eight glasses of water a day but for internal hemorrhoid causes, increase this by at least two glasses, thus making it 10 glasses or more in a day. 

• Exercise.  Others tend to forget the significance of exercise to the body.  This is one of the health factors.  Some of the most common exercises today that would surely increase your chances of getting good bowel movement are yoga and Pilates.  These exercises seem to be difficult at first but like anything else, it deserves a good try.  If you can not do it yourself by merely following the instructors on video, go to the gym and have fitness instructors help you.

There are four classifications of internal hemorrhoids, that is, the first second third and fourth degree.  The first and second degree internal hemorrhoids may get the treatments as mentioned above.  For the third and fourth type, surgery might be recommended.  You have to consult your doctor at once to avoid the severe cases.
